Jae Un Jeon

Jae Un Jeon is an award-winning art director and designer whose work uniquely merges visual communication and brand experience. With a background spanning environmental design, digital strategy, and experiential design, Mr. Jeon brings a transdisciplinary lens to contemporary visual communication.

Mr. Jeon spearheads instruction in the Graphic Design Department at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California, where he utilizes his distinct expertise to cultivate innovative coursework in systems thinking, research-driven processes, and socially engaged design. His pedagogy is grounded in mentorship, conceptual rigor, and the belief that design is a vital tool for shaping culture.

Mr. Jeon began his career working alongside world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, leading high-profile graphic design projects that translated architecture into layered visual experiences. He later joined SYPartners and Big Spaceship, developing original brand and digital design systems for elite clients, such as IBM, Citi, Samsung, and American Express.

Over the past two decades, Mr. Jeon’s extraordinary work has included collaborations with prominent institutions, such as MOCA Los Angeles, Milan Design Week, and the RISD Museum. Moreover, his distinct design expertise has garnered premier awards from foremost creative institutions, including AIGA, Red Dot, and the Type Directors Club. Even more, Mr. Jeon holds a doctorate in design, with research focused on the role of visual communication in spatial environments—work that continues to inform both his instruction and acclaimed creative practice.

Mr. Jeon harbors a unique artistic perspective shaped by years of interdisciplinary experience, combining design thinking, cultural insight, and a cultivated exploration in how systems and stories shape our understanding of the world.
