The Shukugawa Branch of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation is located in a calm and beautiful historical town surrounded by nature forming a quiet venerable residential area representative of the Kansai region.
This branch is constructed of steel-framed reinforced concrete with a partially reinforced concrete structure, and has a basement and two floors above the ground. The building has a total floor area of 1,234 square meters and a service area of 472 square meters. We planned the design of the interior in order to create a cozy space that harmonizes with the daily lives of the local people, who are blessed with such a beautiful neighborhood. It is our hope that the branch will become a part of their lives, and provide the people and town with new opportunities and a new landscape.
We were asked to create a nice, homey space which would integrate into the local community, become part of the lives of the local residents, and provide new opportunities and a new landmark to the people and the town. We started off by examining geographical and cultural elements inherent in the town of Shukugawa such as its natural landscape and rich cultural background, and then turned the findings into a design concept. Thus, we produced this branch which has close ties with the local community, is more easily accessible, and warmly welcomes customers and visitors alike.
