Entry Description

This new community centre, identifies synergies between the customs and beliefs of the Hindu and Māori cultures and their deeply rooted connections to nature and the universe. The proposal sensitively interweaves the two cultures into something new. It ensures that the rich history and culture between the Indian and Māori communities are kept safe and passed on to generations forthcoming. It is a space in which architecture helps to facilitate identity formation and strives to be an interpretation of a New Zealand, Kiwi-Indian architecture which showcases the potential to one day be realised.
