Entry Description

The Alternative Water Treatment Gallery showcases natural, indigenous and vernacular methods of producing and maintaining natural fresh water, contrasting the common chemical water treatment processes. In addition to providing a brief history of water treatment processes, the gallery also features several natural water treatment methods of Biological Carbon filtration, Biological Greensand filtration, Biological Settlement tank, Slow sand filtration, Aeration, and Gravel filtration. At the end of the journey through the gallery, there is a kayak club and a cafe to celebrate the clean water.

Bio

Pedram Karimi is a Toronto based environmental designer with a bachelor of environmental design degree from OCAD University and is currently studying Master of Architecture at John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto. Since 2011, he has worked on various architecture and design projects in Canada, Germany and Iran. Notable among them are his works for Aziza Chaouni Projects and Philip Beesley Architect Inc.

Pedram is honored to be the recipient of the prestigious 2017-18 John and Myrna Daniels Scholars Award for the Master of Architecture at John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto.
