Entry Description

YKK80, the new headquarters of the global manufacturer of fasteners and aluminum architectural products,is located in a busy area of Akihabara,Tokyo.
A delicate screen, assembled with aluminum extrusions, wraps the façade to create a dignified expression and to gently filter the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood. It also effectively shuts out the west sunlight while maintaining a sense of openness from the interior. Aluminum is further used in various ways and locations showcasing the unique qualities of the metal. YKK80 was the first office building in Japan to be awarded LEED-CS Platinum.
