Casa Cook Κοs is a new 5 star resort on Kos, Greece. The architectural design attempts to redefine the meaning of tourism accommodation and to promote it into an experience, by deconstructing the stereotype of the hotel. We seeked for the authenticity of traditional greek architecture: modesty, plain cubic forms, simple function and arrangement, traditional techniques and local materials. The result is the experience of a greek settlement, of living in a friend’s home. The approach is holistic in terms of master plan, architectural and interior design, facilities, service and leisure.
Is an Athens based practice founded by lead architect Ilias Mastrominas in 1984. He studied in the Polytechnic School of Milan and in the Architectural School of Thessaloniki. The longtime experience in hotel design with major hotel complexes portfolio, guaranties successful architectural hotel projects. The practice is also involved in residential and commercial design. The main aims of the architectural composition are functionality, sustainability and adaption to the environment, creation of aesthetically simple forms, potential for effective construction and construction into budget.
The practice has won five prizes at the Hotel Design Awards 2017 for project "Casa Cook Kos" : Best resort hotel, Best reception-lobby, Best room-bathroom, Best SPA and Special prize for the highest overall grade. It has also been shortlisted at Hotel Design Awards 2016 for "Astir Odysseus". In 2016, it won the 8th (Diamond Deluxe hotel)and the 10th (Carda beach) places in the ranking for the ten best hotels of the tricenial in "30 Years KTIRIO Magazine competition".
