The glass top, formed by several pieces of colored glass,
has an external lamp that can project light at the floor or
on the wall with a figure of a stylized dragon-fly. The
wooden structure would project the shadow of a woman,
both figures with an Art Nouveau sense. The rest of the
curves provide personality, style and modernism.
The inspiration of this piece of art was taken from the
shapes in a frieze of a building in Prague, Czechoslovakia,
during a trip of the designer in the summer of 2016. The
wooden structure brings to modernity shapes from the Art
Nouveau. The glass top, as some other parts of the piece
were delineated to evoke the shapes of a dragonfly, one
of the elements more significant from this art movement
in the beginnings of the XX Century.
Gerardo Ríos who resides in the Yucatán Peninsula has an artistic and technical brilliance in his work that reflects a unique elegance.
His artistry and craftsmanship is a symbiotic reflection of what he believes in and often says “the daring romance and adventures that we find in people, history and our natural environment”. Ríos’ artistic spirit is inherited from a lineage of artists dating back to his great-great grandfather, the world-renowned painter José MarÍa Velasco.
