Built in 1871, Mayo is the busiest hospital in Pakistan's most populated province the Punjab. With 20 thousand daily visitors both buildings and ground show signs of wear and tear. Lahore based design firm AEDL's heritage rehabilitation project at Mayo Lahore sought a balance between historic building features and elements added over time. The renovation was executed with sensitivity to building materials used in the heritage structure but at the same time infused with contemporary elements and a bespoke lighting scheme and customised furniture.
