The design is inspired by the Chinese classical literature Strange Tales from a Chinese Fictio (Liaozhai Zhiyi), specifically the short story The Son of the Sea (Hai Gongzi).
It aims to portray the enchanting beauty who transforms into a giant serpent and the allure of the five-colored flower—symbols of patriarchal gazes upon the female body and the woman’s act of resistance.
As an artistic medium, fashion often embodies the interplay between the gaze of desire and the quest for self-identity, mirroring the social conditions of women and the LGBTQ+ community.
