Entry Description

Propel is an open-source adaptive kayaking aid designed to support individuals with limited hand mobility. Co-developed with the Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program, it features a fully 3D-printable lattice grip that secures the paddle while allowing safe hand release in emergencies. The ergonomic top form supports the hand naturally, while the securing mechanism design retrofits onto most paddles on the market. Includes a PLA-printable open-source version that can be parametrically adjusted based on the user’s needs for broader accessibility.
