Located in Gandhinagar, India, the Nine X Nine house is designed around nine existing trees on a 3311 sqm plot. Fluid volumes weave between the trees, with interior spaces oriented toward a large northern garden for passive cooling. A T-shaped layout in plan and section organizes the house over three levels, anchored by a central spiral staircase. Features include a sunken courtyard with a waterfall, a reflecting pool, and large cantilevered decks that provide shade and extend living spaces. The design merges climate responsiveness with spatial richness.
