Shanghai Library East is one of the world’s largest libraries. The landscape architects have emphasised physical and visual connections between people and nature, with a design that laces the library into the surrounding parkland.
Visitors can experience the building from rooftop skydecks, or wind their way through green plazas and boardwalks, with each space bringing people in contact with different plant species.
The design unfolds across eight carefully crafted and distinct areas, including an arrival plaza, sunken dining courtyard, floating sky deck and children’s garden.
