Entry Description

The project takes part of its name from the ubiquitous white stackable plastic ‘Monobloc’ chair. It is therefore a critique on the form, function, process, and materiality of modern designs. These 8 chair modules are generated directly in 3D with an in-house fine-tuned text-to-3D AI model (i.e., a generative deep neural network) and fabricated with upcycled teak charred black. Their AI-hallucinated multi-perspectival seating affordances collectively influence circulation, views, and gathering within a space, making it an enhanced placemaking artefact.
