MAST is located along the expansive and chemically polluted salt marshes of coastal Brunswick, Georgia. The city is home to an underserved population that will rely on community-based storm resiliency in the face of climate change. The design is centered around a closed-loop upcycling process of discarded building materials. An regenerative site design utilizes an artificial oyster reef basin to cleanse water as they pass with the tides. Visitors experience the site and its positive environmental impacts as a microcosm of a larger-scale solution to our relationship with the coastline.
