Speculative BONSAI is an exploration of the possibilities of the established Japanese culture of bonsai. Bonsai is a traditional Japanese horticultural technique and art form in which trees and plants are cultivated in containers to express natural landscapes and textures. This year's theme, “Harmony of Container and Plant,” explored the possibilities of bonsai. In other words, by abandoning the concept of “a vessel suitable for gardening,” we thought we could expand the possibilities of bonsai.
