A residential maisonette with a large 3Mx3M window, the old layout - the positions of the central staircase and main beam, caused poor lighting and fragmented, enclosed spaces. By relocating the staircase and lowering part of the floor, the obstacle created by the large main beam was eliminated, allowing the layout to be reconfigured.
The design of this project chooses ‘openness’ to enhance lighting and spatial integrity. To achieve efficient use of open space, a single definition of a space is no longer applied in favor of flexibility and interaction.
