Entry Description

Madrone Ridge took form through its response to the surrounding environmental conditions and its siting on a forested promontory above a valley. Solar orientation and shading were modeled and calibrated to achieve 98% optimization. The roof is composed of two sloping triangular planes that capture water in the wet season. The exterior features a Rockwool heat-stopping system clad in non-combustible copper skin. The design creates direct connections to the outdoors by extending the facade beyond the glass to create comfortable and protected transitional outdoor spaces.
