Entry Description

This site-specific conceptual project is a response to the brief for a pop-up cafe in the Cutaway, Barangaroo, Sydney. The chosen concept “INTERCHANGE” is a reference to Barangaroo as a place of cultural interchange throughout history.

Sustainability has become the main feature of my design for this project and is celebrated in every aspect of it. The structure of the cafe is made entirely out of biodegradable, recycled or reclaimed materials with mycelium brick as the main hero. Once the structure is removed, the bricks can be composted returning back to the carbon cycle.
