A magnificent but derelict 1936 Church was saved, repaired and repurposed into an arts centre bringing creative contemporary culture to a community affected by loss of traditional industry. Green technologies of air source heat pumps and solar panels and additional insulation have reduced the carbon use by 70%. AV and display lighting allow flexibility for theatre, film, dance, music as well as painting, sculpture and photography. A programme of events is established by an artist in residence in collaboration with the local community, schools and universities.
