The Bio-Vessel collection was born from the question-How can native species encourage ecologically responsible design? Inspired by the Yaupon Holly, Saw Palmetto, Eastern Oyster and Spanish Moss indigenous to Georgia, it melds the artistic practices of embroidery and sculpture with the scientific practice of chemistry. The series transforms biopolymers and native species into evocative materials that are beautiful and environmentally responsible. Through form, pattern, color and texture, it rediscovers and celebrates the cultural and environmental importance of native species to our ecosystem.
