Push Notification is a zine designed to create critical conversation around the current state of news through a historical lens. By using the visual language of newspapers and modern digital news formats, Push Notification critiques the past, examines the contemporary, and looks optimistically to the future of news. The publication analyzes the current state of news in three parts.
Alexandria Canchola designs, illustrates, and creates immersive large-scale installations that are inspired by narrative, color, letterforms, and filmmaking. Her personal approach to design stems from her desire to empower people and make a difference by crafting work that is engaging and meaningful.
Michael Cortez is a designer, photographer, filmmaker, and web designer looking to create art through story and image. Drawing from eclectic influences he creates work that combines his interest in all forms of media.
Alexandria has a BA from the University of Texas at Austin and an MFA in 2D Design from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She has completed residencies at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, California and Zea Mays Printmaking in Florence, Massachusetts. Her design and illustration work have received awards from American Illustration, American Advertising Federation, Pulse Magazine, Brownsville Museum of Fine Art and more.
