Entry Description

Inspired by Old Montreal’s Paper Hill and its rich printing history, 425 Viger West’s restoration of the Read Building dating back to 1912 is a contemporary expression of its original purpose and architecture: Whether printed, folded, crumpled, or stacked, paper was at the heart of the inspiration for the building’s renewal, and its revitalized state unifies the past and present by blending a cohesive mix of heritage masonry with modern materiality. As one rounds this building’s corners, they step through time, following a path from stone of the past to the present’s steel and glass.

Bio

The Montreal Airport P4 Parking Lot redefines the typical car park through a dynamic design approach. The 896-meter-long façade acts as a translucent screen, projecting the movement of car headlights to create a captivating, cinematic effect. As part of a 30-year master plan, the facility is built to adapt to future changes, accommodating new transportation modes and infrastructure. With an emphasis on flexibility, sustainability, and climate resilience, the design ensures the parking lot remains future-ready and multifunctional, seamlessly blending functionality with a strong visual impact.
