Entry Description

The largest of its kind in North America, this 400-metre indoor ice ring is an ode to Quebec’s nordicity, enticing movement throughout the year with its inclusion of two Olympic-sized rinks and a three-lane, 465-metre athletic track. Rooted in openness and appreciation for athletics, an entire volume of its perimeter is lifted to create a 360-degree band of windows at eye-level. Blending fluid and continuous forms inspired by the speed, dynamism, balance, and fluidity of the skater, its outer envelope’s cut-outs and projections echo profiles of the landscape and the sheen of glistening ice.
