IDA 2024 NOW OPEN -- Early Bird Deadline May 30, 2024
This project is the result of a fascination with the design and construction of space boots developed during the Space Race. Despite the form of these space boots being derived from the function of meeting specific performance requirements, they don’t fail to bare similarity to centuries old constructions such as loafers and moccasins. The goal of this project is to develop a design that reiterates the singularity of humanity by finding a common aesthetic between past and present, and present it as something timeless, genderless, and stylish, using traditional shoemaking and leather working.
