Socrates is an international design group based in London. In 2020, we launched a series of limited-edition books on the work of photographers, illustrators or writers with whom we have worked. The second edition features Brian Grimwood, one of the most influential illustrators of the last 50 years. Grimwood provided a collection of new unpublished illustrations, created using an iPad and entitled ‘Jazz’. The Coptic binding, visible through an acetate dust jacket, respects the handmade nature of illustration and the type mirrors the loose and organic approach of so many of his illustrations.
