Entry Description

High in the Santa Cruz mountains at the heart of the CZU lightning strikes and wildfires, stand two buildings that we had the pleasure of designing and building. Among the total devastation, they were unharmed—save for some smoke and discoloration. Every other structure on the property was destroyed. The two buildings, which are modern bathrooms at a girls' summer camp, were built with 3 things in mind: low-cost, low-maintenance, and the ability to withstand fire. We used noncombustible materials like CMU blocks, heavy gauge steel, and stainless steel. Included are before and after photos.
