The Bear Robotics “Penny” is an interactive food service robot used in restaurants to deliver food to tables and clear dishes at the end of a meal. We designed Penny to interact with guests in a warm voice and pleasing gestures. Customers give Penny their orders, and she relays them directly to the kitchen. When the meal is ready, Penny’s top two platforms are loaded up, and she carefully avoids people and obstacles while navigating back to the table. Guests later place their used dishes into her bottom bin. Penny is safe, quiet and washable, and blends into any restaurant environment.
