Entry Description

Drawing inspiration from Pier 70’s rich industrial history, SITELAB urban studio’s design will transform an inaccessible post-industrial waterfront into a new 35-acre mixed-use neighborhood. The framework retains flexibility for future design strategies instead of applying a “one-size-fits-all” approach. The mixed-use plan is anchored through a connected public realm tracing the site’s historic arrangement to create a 9-acre network of public parks. Pier 70 unlocks public access to a new portion of the San Francisco waterfront and an important piece of national industrial history.
