IDA 2024 NOW OPEN -- Regular Deadline October 31, 2024
To start off my visual process I compiled images of old Japanese paintings that were unique and traditional and weird in a good way. I created a set of illustrations that I felt presented grunge and self expression and experimentation. The skull is inspired by my insight of skateboarders having a relaxed demeanor, except for when they step off the ramp and make a face. The peacock symbolizes self expression. The logo on the skateboard was inspired by the structure of Japanese writing. The color palette was chosen to reflect Japan’s culture.
