Entry Description

The Aviator Chair. An idea to create a flat folding luxury leather armchair from a single piece of material with no breaks or joins. A personal design challenge, this concept explores ideas of manipulating flat profile cut pieces into sustainable, beautiful and functional 3D forms.
The Aviator echoes the bent plywood designers of the 50s like Bruer & Alto but uses BAMBOO Ply construction & two types of KERF relief cutting to create bends and folds & the traditional Artelier leather work. There are no joints or screw fasteners. Simply CNC cut, folded, pinned into the chair shape & covered.

Industrial designer,mechanic,inventor,creator & maker.
My love for design; especially in space saving & compact living field, really came about whilst living in Manhattan, "Where space, after time, is ones most precious commodity!"ZB
After almost seven years there I returned to Sydney to furthered my studies now as a Product/industrial designer.
Since then working as a design professional from '08 & stared my own design business in '12, Bcompact design.
With business principles revolving around space saving/compact living concepts, sustainable materials & environmental solutions in design.
