Entry Description

The Wit Chair is truly unique in its meticulous attention to how children interact with furniture, its timeless design and its lasting construction. Kids are always in motion and the Wit Chair is designed for their endless energy with a seat stable enough for wiggling and wide enough for the way kids sit. Yet it’s also lightweight so they can move it around. Wit is distinguished by clean, simple lines without resorting to clichéd, childish elements. Each piece is made from natural wood, is hand-assembled and produced in the U.S. while respecting the natural environment in its fabrication.

Bio

Katharine Huber AIA founded Wit Design on the principle that good and considered design for children makes their lives better. Wit changes the formula for children’s furniture by carefully considering how kids move, imagine and play. Katharine’s design philosophy was developed during her time at SOM, Polshek Partnership/Ennead Architects and Richard Meier and Partners. Her work, from international airports and now Wit furniture, is distinguished by its enduring design of simplicity, attention to scale and sensitivity towards human (kids) interaction with the built environment.
