Entry Description

Ruim is a sensory enhancing headset.
The goal for such a device is to aid people who suffer from blindness or visual impairment.

The device tracks the wearer's environment through various sensors such as LIDAR, infrared, and standard imaging cameras. This information is translated into haptic vibrations that allow the wearer to interpret the distance of obstacles.

There is a second layer of the interface that tells the wearer the colour of their environment. This is done by compact Peltier modules that heat and cool on the surface of the skin to represent warm and cold colours.
