Entry Description

Our design team created a poster and visual identity system for the 2018 New Interfaces in Musical Expression conference at Virginia Tech.

We created modified letterforms, based on Bauer Bodoni but with the serifs mostly removed to create a more vertical rhythm, similar to that of notes on sheet music. The reflection of the mark is the embodiment of the conference theme, “Mirrored Resonances.” The supportive imagery is a processing-based sketch that runs in a loop on the NIME website (in a black theme at night and a white theme during the day). The forms relate back to sound waves and music.
