This project proposes a spiritual space in Stone Mountain, Georgia (the home of the largest Confederate monument in the U.S). In response to the mountain as a symbol of division, the design centers on the concept of repentance unto life, offering a place for reflection and healing. Metanoeo, a Greek term, refers to the process of undergoing a change in one’s frame of mind. The architecture physically manifests this idea, drawing from the concept of peace as a transformative antidote. It invites visitors of all backgrounds to confront the past, seek renewal, and imagine a more unified future.
