Entry Description

This 1800's building in Sydney's Rushcutters Bay was the former site of a gym and had undergone years of indelicate alterations. Studio Kate set about meticulously restoring and upgrading the ground-level site to house their design studios and luxury retail boutique.
The design intent was to bring the character of the 1800’s interior to the fore, overlaying it with a contemporary sensibility. Spatial planning included a front of house retail space complete with break out spaces for quiet work and private meetings, a fabric room and studio with kitchenette, locker room and powder room.

Kate Nixon is an Australian stylist, designer, founder and director of her eponymous, award-winning interior design firm and homewares boutique based in Sydney, Australia.

Kate leads an all-star team of talent who are passionate about interiors and committed to excellence.

At the heart of our interiors, architecture and product designs we seek to deliver spaces and pieces which are warm and inviting, classic and comfortable, polished and practical –equally at ease with elegant entertaining and everyday family life.
