–Forest of Light and Lattice–
A restaurant built on a farm surrounded by a lush forest(renovate an old wooden building).
The three-dimensional white lattice nesting above the beams of the existing wooden structure forms the canopy of a forest that brings together the old and the contemporary by suggesting the superimposition of time and space.
Whether this transmutation of light occurs in a dynamic or subtle manner, the resulting expressions offer an ever-changing shower of light that can be fully experienced depending on where one is standing and looking to.
The shape of pendant lighting appear to depict drops of milk dripping from the canopy .
By applying special paint echoing the texture of plain soil found on the farm to the walls ,we aimed to create a warm atmosphere.
By superimposing time and space , the repeated entwinement of lattice and light offers a mystic illumination and the spatial experience of penetrating into a deep forest
Moriyuki Ochiai established his own studio, Moriyuki Ochiai Architects that is active in architectural, interior, furniture,landscape and industrial design.
The sources of our inspirations come from being captivated by the vivacious and lively beauty of nature or life.
We can also feel the influence coming from the delicate sensitivity responding to the unique Japanese nature, which can be found in Japanese temples and gardens.
We wish to continue creating works that fulfill people's dreams, become the energy for their lives, and then move on to a deeper dimension that exceeds life itself.
