In Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where daily internet usage exceeds six hours and 34GB of data, Cheng-Zong transforms this digital flow into art. Drawing from images on LINE, Google Maps, and Midjourney, he creates prints that capture data streams, turning them into wearable expressions of technology and culture.
Committed to both heritage and sustainability, he repurposes discarded metal threads and ribbons, weaving them into “Data Threads.” By blending digital techniques with traditional craftsmanship, his work bridges the real and virtual worlds, reimagining the value of everyday materials.
I am Yu Cheng-Zong, currently a lecturer at the Department of Fashion Design, Shih Chien University. I am also a fashion designer, focusing on avant-garde fashion design and theater costume design. I have collaborated with several choreographers and theater teams, including "Spring, Molecules, Sociology" (2025) by Chen Qi-An & Jian Lin-Yi, the 2024 classic recreation of Pina Bausch's "Sacre", and multiple works with MEIMAGE DANCE and choreographer Ho Hsiao-Mei. I believe that fashion is not just something to wear—it is a cultural language and a vehicle that flows between different fields.
