The pedestrian overpass at Dongbin Road and Nanshan Boulevard in Nanshan District has a main girder of 153.3 meters long and is shaped as a “Y” with 120° angles, looking like a seagull with spreading wings.
The seagull symbolizes the return of Chinese talent from abroad and Nanshan’s reputation as a place of leading talent. When night falls, the neon lights are a further nod to the glow of local talent.
The canopy blocks the sun but lets cool breezes in. This huge, exquisite piece of art has turned the originally disorderly intersection into a beautiful part of the landscape.
