Earth Moves is an invitation to “dig deep” into geoscience through full-body play and exploration. Visitors climb through and over a sandstone cave; sift and sort with simple machines to learn how rocks become sand; and manipulate a river's flow by digging in a sand-filled floodplain. To beat the North Carolina heat, guests of all ages splash beneath a 20’ high waterfall while their companions modify the flow rate and direction. Native plantings, a regional rock garden, and seat walls enhance this 1-acre biosphere park which highlights human and natural impacts on the ever-changing surface.
