IDA 2025 IS NOW CLOSED FOR SUBMISSIONS.
The single-family house is located on the land that used to belong to the Pedroso Monastery, in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.
The land is steep and covers two large lots of the subdivision, designed with the objective of safeguarding the existing vegetation and trees.
The upper floor of the dwelling, we have the living and the dining room, the kitchen, and the three suites, at the street level, which allows access to the land. On the lower floor, which is partially buried in the land, we have the garage, the laundry room, the wine cellar, the guest room, the games/cinema room and the pool.
Raulino Silva is an architect and was born in 1981, in Vila do Conde (Porto).
His work, particularly on the housing theme, has been shown in several exhibitions, standouts include the “Best International Houses”, at Platform Architecture in Venice and the Europe 40 Under 40 Awards from The European Center for Architecture, in Athens.
He took part as a speaker at 2A ArchTalk by 2A Magazine, in Dubai, at The Plan Magazine's Perspective Europe Forum, in Italy, at Pecha Kucha Night in Porto and Lisbon.
He was awarded a medal for merit, gifted by the chief executive of the City Hall.
