Entry Description

As the final phase of a multiyear collaboration, the Werner Pavilion extends a series of additions to a historic residence. In 2012, the client commissioned a guest house in the spirit of a traditional carriage house and later returned to add a simple yet refined pavilion to the pool area. Designed as an open-air structure, the pavilion is defined by a thin floating roof and perimeter walls that echo the site’s cedar fencing. It offers a shaded retreat that complements the property's evolving architectural language with material warmth, clarity, and restraint.

Bio

DEMX architecture is a design-focused architecture firm in Fayetteville, Arkansas. We were founded with a belief that vernacular building types are those from which we could learn our greatest lessons. Our other inspiration is modernism, which is dependent on the ideals of material production and assembly. Combining these two approaches allows us to pursue sustainable practices and design solutions, rooted in efficiency, appropriate material choices, and contextual response.
