“Alibaba Wonder Avenue” Olympic Pavillion

During the 2024 Paris Olympics, Alibaba Group opened a temporary pavilion on the Champs-Elysées boulevard. This is a location saturated with historical significance, having served as the main site for Universal Expositions in 1855 and 1900. The pavilion pays homage to the rectangularly pruned groves of the French gardening tradition, it aims to explore the theme of impermanence, its evocative shapes glide gently over the tree-lined boulevard blurring boundaries between indoors and outdoors, natural and artificial. All components will be reassembled in China as part of a school charity scheme.
