Located in hot desert climate of Yazd, the project is characterized by a complicated program and two side by side sites with irregular geometries for two independent but interconnected schools, one for boys and one for girls, with shared spaces and facilities. Inspired by Yazd traditional architecture our design for a brick building is formed around a sunken courtyard as a mediator that separates two schools but allows certain spaces to be shared and used by both schools.Sunken courtyard, application of adobe, light and shade provide proper climatic conditions against high temperatures in Yazd.
