Located in San Francisco's Russian Hill neighborhood, this project involves renovating, expanding, and merging an existing two-unit home with a vacant lot. The design maintains the small footprint but adds living space through excavation and a vertical addition. A bold red stair connects all four floors and serves as an entry feature. The modern façade with planar elements frames the alley and offers a view of Coit Tower. The goal was to create a modern, artistic home with strong connections to the garden while preserving the essence of San Francisco.
