The Janus Center for women welcomes veterans who
have experienced military sexual trauma (MTS). The
center houses a seven week program specifically
designed to help them through the healing process
after what they experienced. The building was created
using a simple and effective design, and its ultimate
goal is to disappear around its patients, placing the
treatment in the forefront.
The concept of simplicity is used to create comfort and
ease using natural and warm materials. The spaces are
modern but familiar and minimal but inviting. The
wellbeing of the patients was translated thought the
architecture through the planning of the layout,
materiality, circulation and orientation of the building.
