Oceana: Changing Currents is the new New York headquarters for Oceana, an ocean conservation and advocacy non-profit. The design of the project begins with rebranding the organization, then interprets the new brand a) into new program components; and b) into three-dimensional space enabling the functioning of the headquarters. The project reimagines the ocean’s currents as major Circulation and Program areas, drawing on currents as the ocean’s agent of change: a metaphor for the nonprofit’s work. They wind through the building, bursting through walls to disrupt the existing building.
