This project is a self-sufficient wind generation lighting system for the village of Masset, Haida Gwaii. The community finds it expensive to get power from the mainland grid therefore it runs on diesel fuel. This project looks to create green energy lighting systems for safety and accessibility to the community while providing a beautiful lighting display. Drawing inspiration from traditional Haida Art, this cost-effective project consists of a vertical axis wind turbine system, a battery component for excess electricity, and lighting fixtures to provide illumination.
