Xi’an Vertical City sits at the gateway of Qinhan New Town, facing the Wei River to the south and looking across to the ancient city of Xi’an. The complex mixes retail and office programs. The toughest problem we faced was how, on a tight façade budget and with every AC unit exposed, to create a clean, orderly, modern public building worthy of a landmark entrance.
By extending the upper volumes outward, we re-organized the podium’s logic into a new rhythmic order that dialogues with the three towers, generating a dynamic composition at the base.
