The “Climbing the Ladder – Party Amphitheatre” in Aiyuan Town, Jiangsu, transforms the everyday farming tool of the ladder into a symbol of community and tradition. Inspired by the town’s centuries-old pear orchard, the design adopts a modular, assembly-based system of timber frames, ladders, and tension straps. Villagers collaborate to build and dismantle the theater, making it a mobile and participatory structure. Serving as a space for films, performances, and gatherings, it revitalizes the orchard, blends with the landscape, and celebrates the evolving rhythm of rural life.
