Spartina alterniflora is a destructive invasive species threatening wetlands worldwide by displacing native plants, altering hydrology, and reducing biodiversity. Removal is costly and generates large amounts of biomass waste. This design turns the threat into a resource by carbonizing the plant and combining its fiber with cement and rice husk ash to create ecological bricks. Biochar slowly releases nutrients to improve soil quality, and the porous structure provides habitats for small species. Practical and sustainable, it’s suitable for wide use in wetland restoration.
